As a celebration of Birmingham Airport's 70th Anniversary and for the official opening of the new International Pier, two Airbus A380's visited the airport during September 2009 with proto-type (F-WWOW) making a fly-past on Saturday 5th and the first ever landing of the type with Emirates (A6-EDE) on Wednesday 9th. The airport also made this day "Retro day" which attracted many vintage aircraft visitors along with two retro jets from both KLM and Lufthansa.  All the photos from the event can be viewed below. A massive thank you to Birmingham Airport for making this day possible! Airbus Industrie flew their A380 prototype (F-WWOW) through Birmingham as it performed two fly-pasts whilst on Runway 33. Unfortunately the weather was not as kind to us on this day with grey skies but still managed to impress the spectators as it passed through the airfield. The aircraft later flew onto Filton...  Making its low fly-past...  The aircraft wears Airbus Industries home colours with its customers listed along the front...  Flying over the airfield...  Wheels up, as she begins to rotate...  Climbing out into the low cloud...  Making her second fly-past before flying off to Filton...  |
